Russian traveler Fyodor Konyukhov visited the Chinese Great Wall research Station in Antarctica (King George Island) after completing a solo expedition to Smolensk Island. The station has been operating since February 20, 1985.
At the Great Wall station, Konyukhov met with scientists and engineers, shared his experience, and they gave him a tour of the base.
In February 2026, GWM delivered a Tank 300 frame SUV with a diesel engine to the polar station. As part of an agreement between Great Wall Motor and the Chinese Association for Arctic and Antarctic Research, the serial Tank 300 received the status of an official vehicle for polar expeditions.
The car is being tested in extreme conditions – on snow, ice and crevasses. The Tank 300 transports researchers, delivers equipment, and supports field work. Fyodor Konyukhov personally appreciated the car.
