Great Wall Motor is preparing to launch a powerful 3-liter diesel engine, which will be showcased in Australia for the first time. This turbo diesel engine will be a significant new addition to the market and will be installed in the Tank 500 SUV and the Cannon Alpha pickup truck (also known as the Shanghai Poer).
The new engine promises significantly increased power and torque compared to the current 2.0- and 2.4-liter diesel engines, improving the performance and fuel efficiency of the vehicles. Thanks to this, the GWM will be able to compete with leaders such as the Toyota Hilux GR Sport and the LDV Terron 9 in the Australian market.
Initially, it was planned that mass production of the engine would begin in 2027, but the announcement of a premature premiere suggests a possible earlier launch. It is possible that this diesel will also appear on the future Tank 700.
